Eureka!
All that glitters isn’t gold, but then gold isn’t always glittery either. Sometimes gold is a gorgeous, rich, lush, metallic. Just shiny enough to let you know it is a luxury item, and worth taking note of.
Recently I had the opportunity to try out the new Matte Metallic paints from Modern Masters. Being a California native, (and Northern California at that), I chose the color Gold Rush.
From my first brush stroke of Gold Rush, I knew I had found the Motherlode in gorgeous, luxe color. I have been loving all the rich metallic paint projects I have seen around the blogosphere lately. I was thrilled to be able to try out a new color from one of my favorite paint companies.
Of course, I had to find the right project. This French Provencial Dresser and Nightstand were the perfect specimens, diamonds in the rough, or just needing to be refined, (gold speak).
I did a thorough cleaning, a light sanding, and I was on my way to a gorgeous finish. I painted three coats of Modern Masters Gold Rush for complete coverage.
Although the Gold Rush Color itself is gorgeous, I can never leave anything unadorned. I decided to layer two tones of glaze over my pieces that I tinted with Modern Masters colorants. I used Tobacco Brown, followed by Coffee Bean.
I also used the Coffee Bean colorant to darken the hardware, as I had shown in THIS post.
My Gold Rush Matte Metallic pieces are heading down to Paris Flea Market where they will be for sale at our next September sale.
Gold is a valuable commodity, luckily I have enough Gold Rush Matte Metallic leftover do paint another project! Since a little gold can go a long way, I was thrilled that a little Gold Rush Modern Masters paint goes a long way too.
I can’t wait to try out more of the new Matte Metallic collection from Modern Masters.
My Gold is shimmering and showing off at these fancy parties this week:
