Every year in December, color authority Pantone releases their Color of the Year choice for the upcoming 12 months of Fashion, Beauty and Design. After much research and trend analysis, they released an unprecedented choice of two colors: Rose Quartz and Serenity, a “harmonious pairing of inviting shades that embody a mindset of tranquility and inner peace”. We couldn’t help but notice that they are the embodiment of two of our Metallic Paint Collection colors: Pink Pearl and Shimmering Sky.
The light blue and light pink colors bring a sense of calming tones to a well-designed environment. Having the colors shimmer also plays right into Pantone’s plan as they further announce that “translucent, glazing, matte and metallic shine are key finishes” for both colors.
On this metallic painted table by Ashlee of My So Called Crafty Life, she mixes both our Pink Pearl (the metallic equivalent of Rose Quartz) and Shimmering Sky (the metallic equivalent of Serenity) in one beautiful furniture piece with handpainted accents and vintage wallpaper. You can see how nicely the colors play off with gold, silver and pearl tones as well.
Since we love faux & decorative finishes and textures, we also found added inspiration for using the trending baby blue and baby pink colors. This chippy, distressed and patinated door mixes the colors so pleasingly. Notice how well they work with an expanded color scheme of greens and both buttery and bright yellows. We found the inspiring image via the Comma Workshop blog.
We also spied this gorgeous designed home with loads of decorative painting appeal. The wood slats in the ceiling have an ornamental design that has been distressed and there are a few key furniture pieces with chic, painted textures and colors. The blues and pinks meld so seamlessly here. The design work is by Ohara Davies-Gaetano.
We hope you’ve enjoyed these Color of the Year ideas! Pink Pearl Metallic Paint and Shimmering Sky Metallic Paint are both water-based and ideal for multiple surfaces such as furniture, walls, ceilings, decor accents and more. If you are looking to incorporate Pantone’s Colors of the Year, try adding splash and sparkle by using these two gorgeous metallic shades. Don’t forget to pin these ideas – have an inspired day!
