We recently wrapped up our Fresh Ideas in Bloom Photo Contest where many of you submitted your fantastic Modern Masters projects. While we announced the contest winners a few weeks ago, we thought we’d take this chance to highlight some of the wonderful artistry submitted by decorative painters. It’s time to get inspired!
Fine artist Rebecca Pickrel was faced with a cinderblock closet that was to be made into a wine closet. Using gold metallic foil as a base, she first textured and then stenciled with several colors of our Metallic Plasters. What a gorgeous result!
This warm and lovely cabinet was painted by Canadian artist Suzanne Pratt of Venetian Studios. She used four colors from our Metallic Paint Collection: Warm Silver, Champagne, Pewter and Copper. Starting with a very soft creamy yellow as a base, she layered them onto one other until she found a pleasing and chic washed effect.
This beautiful textured wall finish was created by artist Leanne Lee of Rekindled Spaces with Metal Effects Iron Reactive Paint, Rust Activator, Texture Effects and Silver Metallic Paint.
Kristen Butler was given an old armoire by a friend. She didn’t like the light color of the wood so she based the piece with a deep purple and used ShimmerStone in a troweled application over that color. “I tinted it as dark as I could with the Blue Velvet Colorant and then sealed it with MasterClear® Protective Clear Topcoat for protection,” she explains. So striking!
Krista Vind, owner of The Studio Destin, used our Silver Metallic Paint to charmingly transform kitchen cabinetry and used an aging glaze over the top for a wonderful contemporary finish. Just as Krista did, we recommend using an appropriate primer and topcoat to both prepare and protect your surfaces.
Artist Adrian Ridgley painted an incredible trompe l’oeil effect on an elevator door with our Metallic Paint Collection. The walls were faux finished with Tintable Glaze into a stained wood look and all the details were painted with the metallic paints as well. This gorgeous residence is in the Park Towers of Las Vegas.
We will be showcasing more of the fantastic Modern Masters project submissions and no worries – you’ll have a chance to enter your own as we have plans to throw another photo contest soon! In the meantime, we’d love to hear about what you think of these projects so be sure to leave us a comment!
