Every new season calls for growth.
Whether it’s a total overhaul or simply adding in new refreshing colors, change is in order around here
because recently I was walking with our middle daughter home from school when she suddenly blurts out,
“Mommy, our house is so beige and boring”
I cringed
quickly realized she was right and did a tiny happy dance inside knowing she gets her discerning eye from moi. lol
To say our sweet child shamed motivated me into bringing the bright, bold, happy colors we have inside our house, outside would be an understatement.
In no uncertain terms, the coral and blue elements of Summer on our tiny front porch were all her idea.
The iron table set started out blue.
Well, originally it was black and then…
it was a lovely shade of blue last Summer.
Blue didn’t feel right on that little bistro set though. I always felt it needed something more.
So for this project. I clean it thoroughly and sanded it to rough it up a bit.
Then brushed on 2 coats of a beautiful fire-y coral.
(American Paint Company: coral reef)
Next up was a touch of glaze in all the right places around the flowers and leaves.
I created a glaze using Modern Master’s metallic paint in Steel Gray.
Working in small areas, I used a damp sponge to apply the glaze…
and a 2nd clean damp sponge to remove the excess.
I let it dry overnight, then brushed on two thin coats of Modern Master’s Exterior Varnish.
Oh my goodness, the coral calls my name.
I’m seriously in love with the coral on the little table set but what really makes me smile is that our daughter says our house looks happy now.
yay! That’ll work!
It’s starting to look a lot more like Summer around here with the pretty pops of blue and coral don’t you think?!
Here are the other projects I did to get the look.
