Happy Friday, my friends! With kiddies back in school this week, this DIY gal was able to get her paint on. {Yay!} So, today for Friday’s Favorite Finds, I have a modern twist on a vintage French cane back chair I’m dying to share with y’all.
I have to tell you I’ve been planning and dreaming of a Restoration Hardware (aka RH) knockoff for a very loong time now.
And, when I found this tired and outdated $10 chair back in July…
at Goodwill during a fun day thrifting with my favorite Aunt, { Hi, Aunt Carol. xx}
I just knew I’d found the ideal chair to get my DIY Restoration fix.
And, this my friends is how one ugly, inexpensive piece of furniture…
and a little bit of awesome paint…
came together to make one sexy, metallic Restoration Hardware knockoff.
You should know I have a true love for all things RH! Sadly, their price tags are not part of my infatuation. And, I’m especially into their earthy, industrial metal looking stuff. Yet when I’ve tried to create that finish on other pieces, I’ve fallen flat.
I’ve searched for and tried many a metallic paint but haven’t been able to come up with that cool, custom finish I’ve been shooting for…
Until now!
Enter – Friday’s Favorite Find: Modern Masters Metallic Paint Collection. (Disclosure: This is a sponsored product review.)
When Modern Masters contacted me while we were vacationing in Hilton Head, I was so happy to hear they wanted me to review their metallic paints. Why? Well because like I said, I’ve seriously been on the hunt for a shimmer paint for far too long. So, I was like “sure, no problem;I’ll give it a try”. {And, between you and me, I pretty much expecting it to be like all the rest. Ho-hum. Boy, was I wrong!}
I absolutely l-o-v-e it! It glides on like a dream and has that perfect amount of razzle-dazzle shimm-a I so desperately wanted for my DIY projects to have that custom, metal RH look.
I painted one light coat of Modern Masters ME150 Silver (Opaque) on the entire chair.
And, I even gave it a light brush over the fabric seat and arm chair cushions!
Oh, what glorious coverage it gave me and lended the perfect level of shimmer in all the right places.
I really love the bit o’bling it gave to the tired fabric I thought I would have to replace when I’d bought the old thing.
I barely let the first coat dry for 20 minutes when I finished it with a breath {aka an extra light, sloppy coat) …
Viola!
Oh and I should probably warn you; be ready for more metallic RH looks coming your way. I have most of this awesome paint left…so there will be more sexy shimmer projects in our the future.
So, do you go for the metallic look? Have any questions or paint projects in your future? I’d love to hear.
Cheers to you and yours,
Thank you Modern Masters for providing the paint supplies from your metallic paint collection for this review. This idea for a Modern Twist on a Vintage French Cane Back Chair paint project was all mine. And, as always, my opinion is 100% real and I would not share something with you unless I would be happy to buy it myself.
