I figured I couldn’t very well name the armoire Blue Beauty, then just refer to the side table as, well, Side Table. And Golden Goddess suits her just fine! (You all figured it’d end up gold after this post.) I could even take it a step further and say Glamorous Golden Goddess.

Just like the console table, the mirror top popped right out of the table, saving me all kinds of prep time. Jenny talks of her gold paint by Ralph Lauren in several projects, but I have not been able to find it locally. So when I spied this Modern Masters Metallic Paint on the return shelf at Sherwin Williams recently, I snatched it up. (It’s no longer sold at Sherwin Williams, but the Modern Masters website will direct you to local dealers.) It’s fairly pricey at $15 for the 6oz. jar (and over $100 for a gallon!), but painting this table barely made a dent in it.

It’s probably just as well my jar is so small, I have a feeling a lot more gold will be popping up in our home!
Here’s what the Modern Masters website says about their product:
Metallic Paint Collection™ – Low-emitting non-flat paints in water based, non-tarnishing colors. Real metal particles, pearlescent pigments and traditional color pigments are uniquely combined to create a palette of beautiful, non-tarnishing, shimmering colors.

It’s difficult to see the full lustre in photos, but the table doesn’t look “painted.” It’s reflective and warm and not at all flat. I used Gold Rush, in the semi-opaque finish, and applied several coats with a foam craft brush. It dries quickly and I had no problems with drips or clumps. Since I used a foam brush, I’m not sure if it’s prone to brush marks.

This corner of the Living Room has fast become my favorite. The armoire and wingchair, once so out of place, are now perfectly harmonious with the room. The power of paint lives! The clam shell bowl is from Pier 1, and picks up the greens and blues perfectly. The urchin is a Furbish treasure, and the bird lamp belonged to my great-grandmother. I’m undecided on updates for it.

I need to address the pesky cord issue. |
Here’s some more Before & After goodness:

I’m still working on table vignettes, but I couldn’t be happier with how this room is coming together. Do you have a favorite metallic paint?
